Please join us for a very special annual meeting celebrating the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Katawba Valley Land Trust at the Ivy Place on Sunday afternoon , October 15, 2017. The 25th anniversary meeting will be dedicated to the legacy and conservation work of Lindsay Pettus, who has been a conservation leader for over 40 years. In addition to honoring the KVLT Founder, Lindsay Pettus, we will have tours of the beautiful gardens at Ivy Place, lead by Genie Graham, and nature hikes lead by one of South Carolina’s leading naturalist, Dr. Austin Jenkins. We are also excited to have Charles “Chuck” Roe, President of Southern Conservation Partners, as our featured speaker for this year’s annual meeting. Chuck has had a very successful conservation career from his work in the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program to the head of the SE office of the Land Trust Alliance. Chuck’s talk will focus on the importance of private lands conservation. We will also have other special events during the afternoon, including a raptor release by the Carolina Raptor Center. We will finish the day with the incredible BBQ and banana pudding of Dan “the Pig Man” Huntley. For directions to the beautiful Ivy Place visit www.ivyplaceevents.com.
The cost for the afternoon is $35.00 for KVLT members and $45.00 for non-members. If you are not a member, your fee will also cover one-year membership to the land trust. Children under 10 are free. You must register for the annual meeting no later the Monday, October 9, by 5:00 p.m. To register email Barry Beasley at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the office at 803-285-5801.
