On June 21, 2018, Mr. Bill Marshall, with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, will talk about the conservation of rivers and waters in South Carolina. Bill will present some of the challenges he faces managing our rivers and waters and how SCDNR and others are working to protect and better manage them through various public and private initiatives such as river-corridor plans, habitat-conservation focus areas, hydroproject relicensing, water-use planning and regulation.
Other speakers in the 2018 series will be:
Mr. John Jory, Oceana Gold/Haile Gold Mine – Local geology and the presence of gold – August 23, 2018;
Dr. Jennifer Tsuruda, Clemson University – the “bee lady” will discuss the importance of honey bees and other pollinators on October 18, 2018.
All programs will be at the Carol Ray Dowling Center at 7:00 PM.
