The 2016 KVLT Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, October 16, at the Andrew Jackson State Park. The meeting will begin at 1:45 and adjourn after a bar-be- que dinner at 5:00 p.m.
This year’s annual meeting promises to be a fun and educational afternoon. We will have a nature hike lead by former chief naturalist for South Carolina State Parks, Irvin Pitts. You will also have time to visit the museum at the state park which contains artifacts related to President Andrew Jackson and exhibits that focus on 18 th century life in South Carolina’s back country. We also have a very special guest at this year’s annual meeting, Dr. Mark Cheathem. Dr. Cheathem is Professor of History at Cumberland University and has written several books on Andrew Jackson. He will discuss his latest book, Andrew Jackson, Southerner, which won the 2013 Tennessee History Book Award. As has become tradition, we will end the afternoon with an incredible bar-be- que dinner from renowned BBQ chef, Dan “the Pig Man” Huntley, including his amazingly delicious banana pudding. The cost for the annual meeting will be $30 per person for KVLT members and $40 for non- members. Children under 10 are free.
